The 5-foot-9 Illinois State-bound point guard, who entered the game averaging 33 points per contest, scored 15 points and dished 10 assists as Warsaw won its 15th consecutive conference game.[[In-content Ad]]Moore's court vision and passing ability helped the Tigers stand tall with balanced scoring.
Junior Lucas Grose scored a team-high 16 points and pulled down a game-high eight rebounds, while classmates Jay Holladay and Rhett Kesler scored 11 and eight points, respectively.
Junior Clay Anderson chipped in with six points, while senior Jalen Roscoe and sophomore Jared Bloom scored five points each.
"Nic's scoring average is inconsequential to him winning Mr. Basketball," said Warsaw coach Doug Ogle. "Us making another deep tournament run is what is important for Nic to win that award. I thought Nic was pretty good tonight. Fifteen points, 10 assists and only one turnover, that's pretty good."
With the win, Warsaw improved to 11-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play, while Goshen fell to 3-8 overall and 0-3 in the NLC.
"I thought tonight demonstrated what can happen when the opponent chooses track Nic," said Ogle. "We have other guys who can step up and hit shots. I thought Lucas Grose played well. Jay Holladay continues to shoot the ball. And Rhett Kesler made a couple threes, this was probably his best game."
Holladay and Bloom combined to make 5 of 8 three-point attempts.
Holladay made six treys all of last season while playing on the junior varsity team. He has hit seven three-pointers in the last two games.
"Like I've said before, our confidence continues to grow," said Ogle. "With the emergence of some more three-point shooting, that makes us a lot harder to defend."
The Tigers were 25 of 42 (60 percent) from the field overall, 6 of 13 from three-point range, and 11 of 16 at the free throw line.
Warsaw led 17-16 after one quarter of play, 34-26 at halftime and 48-41 going into the fourth quarter.
"We've taken three steps toward the conference championship," said Ogle. "Our next three conference games are against Concord, NorthWood and Elkhart Memorial, all in the Tiger Den. All three are important games, and we're looking for a big crowd to come out and support us."
Friday's game at Goshen featured two ties and six lead changes. The Redskins' last lead was a 19-18 advantage early in the second quarter.
Sophomore Jesse Good led Goshen with a game-high 21 points, including a 6-of-9 effort from three-point range, while junior Louis Kissinger added 11 points.
Warsaw hosts Concord Friday, while Goshen plays at NorthWood Friday.
