Tigers Look Sharp Against Rockies

ARGOS - Six months ago, Jesse Sharp was an eighth-grader at Lakeview Middle School.
Thursday evening he helped Warsaw Community High School's varsity boys soccer team move one step closer to its fourth straight sectional championship.
The talented and speedy freshman, who scored two goals in Monday's 5-0 sectional-opening win against Oregon-Davis, scored twice again Thursday evening, as Warsaw shut out Northern Lakes Conference rival Plymouth 3-0 at Argos High School's Eugene Snyder Field.
"I think, in the seven years I've been here, he's probably in the top one or two of freshman who have been able to come in and make an impact," said Warsaw coach Scott Bauer. "He's the first striker as a freshman to have that kind of impact on the game. He has wonderful balance and instinct for a kid his age."
Sharp's first goal gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead with 20:17 remaining in the first half and turned out to be the game-winner.
The Tigers, who haven't lost to Plymouth in Bauer's seven years as head coach, haven't given up a goal in their last four games.
"In the second half, we put Stephen Bradican in," said Bauer. "He doesn't get to play a lot, but he did a good job controlling things and being a defensive presence. I could go on and on. There were a lot of players that stepped up."
Sharp's second goal gave Warsaw a 2-0 lead with 37:41 remaining in the game, and then senior Evan Pickens scored the Tigers' third goal with 18 seconds left.
The win improved Warsaw's season record to 11-4-3, while Plymouth ended its season with a 10-5-3 mark.
Warsaw had 12 shots on goal and four corner kicks, while the Rockies had seven shots on goal and three corner kicks.
The Tigers were called for 14 fouls, while Plymouth was whistled for 28 fouls.
The Rockies were issued four yellow cards, while Warsaw was issued two yellow cards.
The Tigers will play Bremen in the championship game of the Argos Sectional Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
Bremen advanced by beating the host Dragons 3-0. The Lions scored all three of their goals in the second half.
"They're record is pretty good," Bauer said of Bremen. "They've beat Plymouth and tied them. They've got decent players. It should be another tight match."
