Tiger Spikers Going 1-3 In Tourney

FRANKFORT - The Warsaw Tiger volleyball team went 1-3 in Saturday's Clinton Prairie Invitational.

Providence beat Warsaw 15-11, 9-15, 15-11 in the first match. Warsaw bounced back to beat Benton Central 15-7, 15-9. The Tigers then lost to Indianapolis Central, ranked No. 6 in today's poll, 10-15, 15-2, 16-14. Ben Davis beat the Tigers 15-7, 15-13 in Warsaw's final match of the day.

Sarah Calhoun finished with 54 kills and 36 digs on the day for the Tigers. Lisa Estep had 40 kills and 31 digs. Nancy Mason had 12 kills, while Jahna Swanson had 15 digs. Alyssa Raphael had 22 digs and five kills. Melissa Bolles had 94 assists and 17 digs.

Warsaw's freshman volleyball team won Saturday's Plymouth Invitational. Warsaw beat Wawasee 15-12, 15-0. Melissa Himes had two aces for the Tigers, while Janelle Kesler had six assists.

The Tigers defeated Plymouth 15-11, 15-11 in the championship game. Nerecia Taylor and Ryann Jones each had four kills for Warsaw. Sara Parker had three aces.

Warsaw's freshman team finished the season 13-4 overall and 9-1 against Northern Lakes Conference teams.

The varsity Tigers, 17-13, are at Bremen on Thursday. The junior varsity match starts at 6 p.m.

JV: Triton Wins Invite

At Bourbon, the Triton Trojan junior varsity volleyball team won its Saturday invitational.

Triton beat Tippecanoe Valley 16-14, 15-9 in the first match then beat Central Noble 15-9, 15-6 in the second match. Triton beat Manchester 15-10, 15-11 to claim the championship title.

Jamey Bell led Triton with 14 kills, while Kendra Blackford had 10. Blackford led with 21 assists, and Angel Yoder added 14. Kelli Hackett was 34-of-37 serving with 16 aces, while Mary Claxon was 22-of-24 serving with seven aces.

In other matches, Manchester beat Central Noble 15-7, 15-2; Manchester beat Valley 15-8, 15-11; and Valley beat Central Noble 15-10, 15-5.

Triton is 14-3.

LCA 5, Liberty Christian 2

The Lakeland Christian Academy won its second soccer game of the season, beating Liberty Christian 5-2 on Saturday.

Aaron Jones scored two goals for LCA, while Ryan Andrews, Jordan Casper and Justin Hartman added one each. Hartman's was his first goal of the season.
