COLUMBIA CITY - Dominate.

That's the word that would describe the Warsaw girls soccer team's performance Wednesday against Fort Wayne Elmhurst.

When all was said and done, the Tigers came out on top, 9-0. No, that's not a misprint, and yes, that's a soccer score.

"It's difficult to play the middle game of a series," said Warsaw coach Brent Wildman. "We came off a tough game against Columbia City, and we didn't know this team."

With 31:15 left in the first half, Frankie Vanderpool scored Warsaw's first goal of the game. Just under four minutes later, Lindsay Bruick passed the ball to Kari Wildman, who kicked it in for the second goal of the game.

Warsaw was then up 3-0 with 14:13 left in the first half after Holly McGriff passed the ball to Kathryn Masur for another Tiger goal.

"We came out to win and develop a strategy for our next game," said Wildman.

After halftime, Elmhurst barely knew what hit them when Warsaw's Bruick scored an unassisted goal on a penalty kick within the first minute of second-half play to make the score 4-0.

"We made some adjustments during halftime," said Wildman. "We needed to concentrate on playing as a team."

Less than two minutes later, with 37:53 left in the game, Bruick scored yet another unassisted goal to put Warsaw up 5-0.

Jodi Wildman scored the next Warsaw goal with 33:00 minutes left to give Warsaw a six-point lead.

Rachel Buhrt, the leading scorer of the first sectional game, added another goal just 45 seconds later when she scored Warsaw's seventh point of the game.

Then with 26:11 remaining, Jodi Wildman earned an assist when she passed the ball to Kari Wildman who scored yet another goal, bringing the score to 8-0 in Warsaw's favor.

Emotions came to a head for the Trojans when Elmhurst's Amber Potchka lost her cool and gained a yellow card for pushing with 25:11 left to play.

Warsaw scored the final goal of the game when Shelby Nicole scored an unassisted goal to make the final score 9-0.

"Everybody got to play in every half of the game," said Wildman. "Our objective was to play the entire team, and we met that."

With the win against Elmhurst, Warsaw moves on to face Homestead in the final game of sectional.

"Homestead is a super team," said Wildman. "They are very good, very disciplined."
