He was born July 23, 1938, in Pike County, Ky., to Thelmar and Lana Jarvis Blackburn. On Nov. 5, 1960, in Clintwood, Va., he married Josephine Hughes, who died May 22, 2009.
Living in Kosciusko County since 1960, he retired as a tool & die maker at Zimmer Inc., Warsaw, after 18 years. He was a member of Pentecostal Lighthouse Church, Warsaw. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving as an Airman Second Class in the Vietnam War.
Surviving are two daughters, Thelma Sue (and spouse Kevin) Kersey, Silver Lake, and Vicki Lynn (and spouse Robert) Johnson, Leesburg; a son, Ricky Dean (and spouse Zona) Blackburn, Silver Lake; two sisters, Alma Reynolds, Coal Grove, Ohio, and Lucille Burchett, Prestonsburg, Ky.; a brother, Thurston Blackburn, Milford; and nine grandchildren: Jacqueline, Jessica, Trey, Tyler, Kirk, Damion, Amber, Ashley and Abigil.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with the Rev. Glen Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military honors by members of Warsaw American Legion Post 49 and Veterans of Foreign Post 1126.
Calling is from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
