Two separate robbery incidents have landed three Warsaw residents in jail.

In an unrelated incident, police are also investigating a series of thefts from a construction site at Ivy Tech.

The first robbery happened on Dec. 6 when an elderly Warsaw man reported that an acquaintance came to his home on Buffalo Street, along with a second person. He was confronted about money and robbed of his wallet.

In the second robbery, on Dec. 17, a Warsaw man reported that four subjects came into his home and two of the people kicked and struck him. Taken were currency, coins and CDs.

On Monday, Amber Lee Wirsing, 19, of 519 W. Winona Ave., Warsaw, and Tracey Dale Russell, 21, of 418 S. Union St., Warsaw, were arrested at a Lake Street home. Both were charged on two counts of robbery causing bodily injury, and two counts of theft.

Also Monday, Amanda Christine Swick, 30, of 316 S. Washington St., Warsaw, was arrested and charged on one count of robbery causing injury, and one count of theft. Swick is only implicated in the second incident.

All three were booked into the Kosciusko County Jail and their bonds were set at $10,000.

A fourth person also is expected to be charged as part of the investigation.

The construction site thefts involve items taken from five separate trailers belonging to five separate contractors doing work at U.S. 30 and CR 150W, the Ivy Tech Warsaw campus.

Trailers were forced open and power tools, hand tools, cooper pipe, fittings and couplings were removed.

The theft occurred late Dec. 15 to the early morning hours of Dec. 16. Total losses are estimated at $30,000 to $40,000.

The police report indicates a dual-wheel vehicle, such as a box truck, was used in the theft at the site.

The tools taken were Craftsman air compressors, Stihl chop saws, Honda generators, Milwaukee band saws, Transits builders levels, a Lincoln mig welder, Hilty hammer drills and Dewalt impact guns and drills.

Any information regarding these thefts should be reported to the Warsaw Police Department, detective division, at 574-372-9535.[[In-content Ad]]
