AKRON - Three Mentone teenagers were arrested last week for allegedly breaking into Tippecanoe Valley High school in late May.

Craig Allen Willard, 18, of 307 N. Broadway St., Mentone, and Anthony James Prater, 18, of 5975 Red Bird Lane, Mentone, were both arrested Wednesday evening for burglary of a school.

A third arrest came Friday night when Zackary Taylor Smith, 18, of 108 N. Yale St., Mentone, was booked into Kosciusko County Jail on a charge of burglary to a school and also held on a $5,000 bond.

The arrests follow an investigation into an early morning burglary to TVHS on May 27.

A custodian at TVHS called Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department officers that morning and said someone had broken into the school and vandalized it.

KCSD Det. Josh Spangle arrived at the scene and noted that a fan had been knocked over, and there were several items in the school's kitchen that were vandalized.

There also was a report of burnt items on the school's baseball field.

Prater told police the burnt items were shoes and clothing items that were burnt as to avoid being evidence.

A KCSD report stated that Prater was a senior at the school at the time.

A security camera captured three people vandalizing the school, who police believe to be Prater, Willard and Smith.[[In-content Ad]]
