EVANSVILLE – Thomas L. Listenfelt, 65, of Evansville, died July 17, 2012, in St. Mary’s Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 27, 1946, in Plymouth, to Lee and Alta Listenfelt. He married Rebecca Ashby, who survives.

He graduated from Triton High School, Bourbon, in 1965. He received a bachelor’s degree in music education from Manchester College in 1969 and a master’s degree in music education from the University of Illinois. He was an instrumental music teacher at Middlebury High School for three years. He taught instrumental music for 32 years in the Warrick County School Corp. at Castle High School, Castle Junior High, Newburgh Elementary, Sharon Elementary and Chandler Elementary Schools.

He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, where he sang in the choir and was a former church council member. He was a member of Phi Beta Mu Music Fraternity, the National Education Association, Indiana State Teacher’s Association, Warrick County Teacher’s Association and NEA-Retired. He was a former member of Bend in the River Brass Band. He was also a member of the Purple Aces Club.

Also surviving are a sister, Cindy (and spouse Gail)  Law, Mentone.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Alexander East Chapel, Evansville, officiated by the Rev. John Branam. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Calling is from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
