BOURBON – Thomas L. Hoffer, 78, of Etna Green, passed away at 9:15 a.m. April 18, 2013, in his residence, with his family near his side.
He was born July 8, 1934, in Mishawaka, to Fred and Gladys Hunter Hoffer. On June 21, 1953, he married Carol Hyndman, who survives.
A lifelong resident of Etna Green, he attended Etna Green High School and was a member of Etna Green United Methodist Church. He retired from driving truck, hauling freight for Schneider Trucking in 1995. He formerly drove truck for Everly Trucking Co., Bourbon, where he hauled livestock. He was an avid I.U. basketball fan; a fan of NASCAR and World of Outlaws. He was quite a patriot with a keen interest in politics and world history.
Also surviving are four children, Debra (and spouse Carl) Feldman, Jody (and spouse Steve) Nifong and Todd (and spouse Tena) Hoffer, all of Etna Green, and  Rick (and spouse Arica) Hoffer, Bourbon; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jerri Monesmith, Etna Green, and Sandy Lou Cain, Glasgow, Ky.; and two brothers, Andy (and spouse Beverly) Hoffer, Warsaw, and Ron (and spouse Dana) Hoffer, New Haven; and a sister-in-law, Mary Hoffer, Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Sam Hoffer.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, with Pastor Joe Lampton officiating.
Calling is from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
