BOURBON - Thomas Eugene Eby, 82, of 200 W. Florence St., Bourbon, died April 30, 2008, at Miller's Merry Manor, Plymouth.

He was born Dec. 14, 1925, in Marshall County, to Harry F. and Harriett Silberg Eby.

He was the owner of Eby's Bakery, Bourbon, for many years, then worked and retired from L & R Products, Bourbon.

He loved watching his grandchildren play basketball at Triton, and he avidly followed the Triton team this year as they progressed through the state tournament and became Class 1A state champions. He also loved to watch and root for Notre Dame, and he loved to go fishing. Tom was a member of the Sons of American Legion, Plymouth.

Surviving are five daughters: Paulette (and spouse Don) Eby Smith, Norfolk, Va.; Debbie (and spouse Lonnie) Witham, Warsaw; Dena (and spouse Larry) Wattenbarger; Dava (and spouse Mark) Barton; and Dara (and spouse Greg) Greenawalt, all of Bourbon; grandchildren: Elizabeth Lee, John Smith, Lisa Scott, Leslie Witham, Braxton and Eric Barton, Alison, Cory and Morgan McClamon and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Cloud; a granddaughter, Dawn Francis; and a great grandson, Brian K. Lee.

A funeral service to celebrate Tom's life will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, Bourbon, with Larry Ross officiating. Burial will follow in the Parks Cemetery, Bourbon.

Calling is 1 p.m. Monday until the time of the services in the funeral home.

Yeah, that guy. He wants a full-blown military parade to honor himself on his birthday (and maybe the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army and Flag Day a little bit).
