Thomas E. "TomEG" Gerkin, 64, of 83 EMS B40A Lane, Leesburg, died at 1:40 a.m. July 22, 2008, in Select Specialty Hospital, Fort Wayne.

He was born Aug. 4, 1943, in Larwill, to Alton and Josephine Dahm Gerkin. On April 19, 1974, in Chicago, Ill., he married Peggy Linn, who survives.

He was wage and salary administrator at R.R. Donnelley & Sons for 37 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of American Legion Post 253, North Webster, and served in the National Guard for seven years. He graduated from Warsaw High School in 1961, and International Business College with an associate's degree in business. He enjoyed gardening, living life on the lake and spending his winters at Marco Island, Fla.

Also surviving are a sister, Doris Heisler, South Bend; a niece, Tonya (and spouse Corey) Culp; a nephew, Terry (and spouse Barb) Heisler; seven great-nieces and -nephews; and six great-great-nieces and -nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, North Webster.

Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
