He was born Dec. 12, 1933, in Lawrence, Mich., to Myrl and Myrtle Ryan Robinson. On Feb. 28, 1987, in Warsaw, he married Carolyn Stevens, who survives.
As a testament to his passion for all types of machinery, he spent his entire career in the machine tool business. Covel Manufacturing, Clausing Industrial and George Desantel Co. were his earlier places of employment. After the sale of United Machinery Sales, a company formed with partner Harry Harrington, he retired from General Electric in 2000. A dedicated member of Warsaw Kiwanis, he served on the board of directors and as attendance officer. He was a 40-year member of Masonic Lodge, Hartford, Mich. A skilled craftsman, he totally restored his 100-year-old farm home in 2003. He loved old cars, old tractors, all kinds of machinery and the roar of a Harley Davidson.
He never met a stranger. He was loved and respected by everyone who knew him for his kind and generous nature and his fun-loving spirit.
Also surviving are two sons, Steve (and spouse Barbara) Robinson, Merit Island, Fla., and Scott (and spouse Jody) Robinson, Goshen; a daughter, Tamara Jackson, Fort Wayne; a stepson, Greg Wood, Warsaw; three stepdaughters, Melanie (and spouse Michael) Easter, Melissa (and spouse Pat) Summer and Michelle Wood, all of Warsaw; three grandchildren, Michael and Keven Denney and Phillip Robinson; and 10 step-grandchildren: Patrick and Samuel Easter; Erin, Robin, Matthew and Clayton Wood; Michael and Robert Sommer; Trevor Blankenship; and Ryan Kauchak. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Dr. Homer Kent Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
