PLYMOUTH – Thelma Ruth Newcomb, 96, of Plymouth, died at 8 p.m. Nov. 19, 2011, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.

She was born May 27, 1915, in Plymouth, to Ora E. and Ethel Troutman Kyser. On July 4, 1936, in her parent’s yard, she married Darrell B. Newcomb, who died Feb. 23, 1973.

She was lifetime Plymouth resident and a 1934 graduate of Lincoln High School, Plymouth. She was a devoted wife and mother for many years. When her children were grown, she worked at the Plymouth License Branch, the Plymouth Monument Works and Patten Monuments. She was in her 80s when she retired from the business world. She enjoyed many interests and hobbies. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She loved to travel and had been all over the United States as well as trips abroad. She especially enjoyed Europe, the pyramids of Egypt and the Holy Land. She was a member of First United Methodist, Plymouth, for more than 80 years.

Surviving are a daughter, Chris Miller, Warsaw: a son, Bill (and spouse Barb) Newcomb, Crawfordsville: a grandson; five granddaughters; seven great-grandsons; four great-granddaughters; two great-great-grandsons; and a great-great-granddaughter. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bill E. Kyser; an infant sister, Dorothy Kyser; a son-in-law, Lonzo Miller; and twin great-granddaughters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St.,  Plymouth, with the Rev. Larry Marhanka officiating. Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.

Calling is from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
