LEESBURG - For the second time this week, a teenage male has stolen money from a convenience store.

According to Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department Detective Todd Sautter, at approximately 6:30 p.m. Thursday, a 16- to 19-year-old male walked up to the cash register at Leesburg Express, Ind. 15, with a soft drink. After paying for the drink, but while the clerk still had the cash register open, the suspect pushed the clerk back away from the counter. He then reached over the counter and grabbed all the money out from the register.

The suspect then reportedly fled east on Prairie Street in a green/teal Mitsubishi minivan/sport utility vehicle.

There was only one suspect reportedly involved in this incident. A composite of the suspect was made through the help of witnesses and he is described as a white male, late teens, approximately 5 feet 8 inches and weighing approximately 140 pounds. He has blue eyes and was wearing blue jeans and a blue or black hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head.

On Tuesday, three unidentified teenagers stole almost $400 from Munch Box, East Armstrong Road, Leesburg. According to a KCSD report, at approximately 6:04 p.m. Tuesday, three white teen males allegedly entered the business. The first suspect went to the cooler and grabbed a drink, taking it to the counter as if he were going to pay for it. When the clerk rang up the purchase and the cash register opened, the suspect allegedly grabbed all the cash from the register and all three of the suspects fled eastbound.

Sautter said the two robberies may be connected. One of the suspects in the Munch Box case is described as a 17- to 19-year old white male, blue eyes, blonde goatee, 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall and wearing a hooded sweatshirt and baggy clothing.

Anyone with any information should contact Crime Stoppers at 800-342-STOP, the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department or Sautter directly at 267-5667. [[In-content Ad]]
