He was born April 14, 1942, in Huntington, to John A. and Lelah Richardson Stamper. On Dec. 2, 1961, in Huntington, he married Janet Johnson, who survives.
He was a dispatcher for the Pennsylvania Railroad for 40 years, retiring May 31, 2002. He also worked for Culligan Water Conditioning. He enjoyed golf and bowling. He lived in Warsaw for 20 years, coming from Huntington.
Also surviving are four daughters: Stephanie Lamb, Leslie Stamper and Melissa Baker, all of Warsaw, and Jennifer (and spouse Mikel) Perkins, Fort Wayne; a son, Brian Stamper, Erie, Pa.; 10 grandchildren: Anita, David, Carolyn, Ashley, Tabitha, Zachary, Haley, Samantha, Cheyanne and Austin; a stepgrandson, Tyler; a great-granddaughter, Dawshalyn; and two brothers and sisters-in-law: David and Sue Stamper, Huntington, and Steven and Sharon Stamper, Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Monsignor James Wolf, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A rosary service will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
