By Staff Report-

Bradley J. Tandy, Kosciusko County third district councilman, announced that he is seeking re-election to the third district seat in the May 6 primary.
Tandy, a Republican, has served on the council for five terms. He originally joined the council in January 1995.
Tandy graduated from DePauw University with a Bachelor of Science degree and Indiana University School of Law at Bloomington with a Doctorate of Jurisprudence.
He joined the law firm of Rasor, Harris, Lemon and Reed in Warsaw in 1984, and has resided in the area since that time. Tandy was a partner in the firm before he joined Biomet Inc. in December 1992.
Tandy has served in various capacities at Biomet and in March 2006 was promoted to senior vice president, general counsel and secretary. Tandy continues to serve in this position with the company.
Tandy said he is seeking re-election to county council because he believes he has gained valuable experience and knowledge regarding the operations of the county that allow him to effectively serve the community in this role.
He further stated that his experience as an employee of one of the large, global businesses within the community provides a unique and helpful perspective to the council, and his legal background is also beneficial to the council.
Tandy considers himself to be a progressive advocate for businesses in the county. He believes it is critically important that the county recognize the value of existing businesses to the financial well-being of the county, and also that the county dedicate resources and support toward attracting new businesses to the community.
Tandy considers himself fiscally conservative and believes that he is mindful of his duty to be a good steward of taxpayer funds. He praised the other members of the council and the elected county officials in his announcement because he believes they are very committed to providing county services in a fiscally prudent manner.
In the upcoming term, Tandy believes that the most significant challenge will be providing necessary county services to the community even though federal and state funds are diminishing.
The council is already facing this issue and considering various options for meeting the needs of the county.
Tandy lives in Winona Lake with his wife, Jennifer, who serves as president of Warsaw Community School Board. They have two children, Eric and Emily.
Tandy taught a class at Grace College in the fall semester, and he also volunteers his time to work with Grace students that have an interest in law or business. His family attends Warsaw Community Church.
