Talmadge Shepherd, 68, of 186 N. Parks-Schram Road, Warsaw, died at 9 a.m. Aug. 7, 2008, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

He was born Sept. 30, 1939, in Gunlock, Ky. (Magoffin County), to Oakie and Lynda Bailey Shepherd. On Oct. 13, 1961, in Warsaw, he married Norma Jean Miller, who survives.

Living in Kosciusko County since 1959, he retired from driving truck after 32 years, having driven for TFE for 20 years, Hineline Trucking for six years and Dickerhoff Trucking for six years. He was a member of Highway 13 Free United Baptist Church, Pierceton, and the National Riffle Association. He served in the U.S. Army.

Also surviving are a daughter, Debra Loskill, Warsaw; a son, Roger (and spouse Sarah) Shepherd, Nappanee; six grandchildren, Nichole and Carl Loskill, both of Phoenix, Ariz., and Nicolette, Devra, Ethan and Daniel Shepherd; two brothers, Dexter (and spouse Jane) Shepherd and Ray (and spouse Sue) Shepherd, all of North Webster; four sisters: Maize (and spouse Richard) Lacy, Shelby, Ohio; Janis (and spouse Tommy) Cooley, Gunlock; Ruth (and spouse Estelle) Newsome, Prestonsburg, Ky.; and Cleo Patrick, Salyersville, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, infant Elmer and Palmer Shepherd.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Ward Estle Allen officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military graveside honors.

Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
