He was born March 21, 1936, in Huntington, to Wallace H. and Leola J. Rupley Bolinger. On Dec. 1, 1957, he married Mary C. Riley, who survives.
He graduated from Bippus High School in 1954. He made his home in Huntington County until 1959 when he moved to Liberty Mills. In 1965 he moved to a farm south of South Whitley until 1982 when he moved to his present home north of Columbia City. A farmer, he also worked at Johnson Bros. Sign Co., Whitley Feeds, Patriot Seed, McNess Seed, Tractor Supply Co. and retired from Essex Wire in 2002. He attended St. Matthews United Methodist Church and was a Southern Showmen 4-H Club Leader for many years.
Also surviving are four children: Tammy (and spouse Doug) Wise, Warsaw; Dawn Decker, Columbia City; Theron (and spouse Robin) Bolinger, Bluffton; and Emily (and spouse Tom) Eickholtz, Kendallville; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Mable Mundy, Andrews; and two brothers, Tim Bolinger, North Manchester, and Steve Bolinger, Huntington. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
