Syracuse Poker Run To Benefit Area Troops

SYRACUSE - Hammer's Pub & Grub, Syracuse, is hosting its first Northern Indiana Troop Support Benefit Poker Run.

The motorcycle poker run will be June 7 with proceeds benefiting the National Guard Relief Fund.

The Indiana National Guard Relief Fund, in partnership with Lilly Endowment Inc., provides financial grants to Indiana service members and their families encountering difficult situations due to service members being mobilized.[[In-content Ad]]Each participant will be given a card, which must be stamped at each stop to be eligible to draw a card hand at the end of the run.

A game of five card draw will be played by those who tie. Second and third places also will be decided at that time.

The ride is approximately 2-1/2 hours.

Registration and sign-up will be from 9 a.m. to noon June 7 at Hammer's Pub & Grub.

The ride starts at Louie's Tavern at noon and ends at Liberty Field next to the Calvary United Methodist Church, Syracuse, at 4 p.m.

The cost to ride is $10 and includes a wrist band and t-shirt. A donation for non-poker run entries and a wrist band only is $5.

Entertainment starts in the field next to Liberty Homes. Bands performing will be Monkeys Uncle, Forever Gypsy and others. DJ Ray will spin music between bands.

Food vendors will be on site, and door prizes will be given away at Hammer's.

A party will be at Hammer's Pub & Grub, from 8 p.m. to 2 p.m. where "Dealers Choice" and "UFB" will perform.
