By Staff Report-

SYRACUSE – A Syracuse man was critically injured Wednesday evening after his motorcycle crashed into a vehicle pulling a trailer near Syracuse.
Daniel List, 56, Syracuse, crashed his 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle into the trailer of a stopped pickup truck around 6:30 p.m. along Ind. 13 south of Syracuse, according to a press release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department. List is currently listed in critical condition due to a severe head injury from the crash.
KCSD and emergency personnel responded to a 911 report of a motor vehicle crash at 6:30 p.m. in the area of South Shore Golf Club. Officers determined that a 2010 Ford F-250 pickup truck, driven by Michael Gunderson, 26, Milford, had stopped in the southbound lane of Ind. 13 due to other traffic.  Gunderson told officers that suddenly the trailer he was pulling was struck by a southbound motorcycle.
Sheriff Deputies determined the identity of the motorcyclist as List, who was riding alone. The crash was witnessed by a Syracuse/Turkey Creek Township EMS/ambulance unit, who immediately began to administer emergency aid to List.
Medics immediately requested a scene airlift, at which point List was transported from the scene by the Lutheran Air Ambulance to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
List was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to investigating officers. Neither Gunderson nor an unnamed passenger was injured.
The Kosciusko County FACT Team stated that the crash is currently under investigation, pending toxicology results of the drivers as required by state law.
The FACT/crash investigation team was assisted  by the Syracuse/Turkey Creek EMS and Fire Department, Syracuse Police Department, Indiana State Police and KCSD.[[In-content Ad]]
