Around 12:30 a.m., Central Dispatch received a 911 call about a male subject being robbed in the 600 block of north Harrison Street. The first officer arrived just two minutes later and learned that the victim, Jeremy Smith, heard someone pounding on his back door. When Smith answered, two male subjects kicked in the door and attacked Smith.
Both suspects, dressed in black and wearing ski-type masks, hit the victim several times. One suspect was armed with a handgun during the attack. Smith managed to escape his home and ran to a neighbor’s house to call 911.
K9 units and officers from Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, North Webster and Winona Lake Police Departments responded to the incident and assisted in the search for the suspects.
Both suspects are described as white males, approximately 5’8” to 6’0” in height with medium builds.
Smith was transported to Goshen Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing by the Syracuse Police Department.[[In-content Ad]]
