According to the county jail bookings, Kyle DeHart, 22, of 11136 N. CR 450E, Syracuse, was arrested at 3:44 p.m. Friday on charges of battery causing bodily injury and failure to appear. His bond was set at $1 million.
Woody has been charged in the shooting death of Joshua R. Knisley, 19, and the shooting of Tara Thornburg, 23, at her 605 N. Main St., Syracuse, home early Thursday. Knisley, 19, was found dead at the scene when police responded and Thornburg, 23, was airlifted to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, with a gunshot wound to the head.
In August 2013, DeHart and Woody were arrested in connection to a home invasion that occurred in April 2013. The victim recovered from his injuries but required medical treatment at that time.
Kosciusko County Central Dispatch received a 911 call about 12:34 a.m. that morning about an individual being robbed at his home. When an officer arrived, he learned that the victim heard someone pounding on his back door. When he went to answer, two males kicked in the back door and attacked him.
Inside the home, the two males – later identified as DeHart and Woody – hit the victim several times. One of the individuals was armed with a handgun during the attack. The victim was able to get away from the two intruders and go to a neighbor’s house to call police.
Officers and K-9s from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police and Winona Lake and North Webster police departments assisted in the search for the two men.
DeHart also was arrested in August 2014 and charged with corrupt business influence and conspiracy to commit dealing in a synthetic drug. Arrested with DeHart were Michelle Stimmel, Kimmel, and Jason Richard Bontrager, Syracuse.[[In-content Ad]]
