Syracuse Fire Ruled Accidental

SYRACUSE - A Thursday night fire to a Syracuse business was ruled accidental.

Firefighters were called to the building formerly known as Precision Marine, 301 S. Huntington St., around 7:07 p.m.

Syracuse Fire Dept. Chief Mickey Scott said the fire was accidental and the blaze started in the engine compartment of a vehicle that was being repaired.

The damage estimate is $20,000. North Webster Fire Department assisted on the scene. Crews were able to bring the fire under control in less than 20 minutes.

The building is owned by James Conroy II, Syracuse, and Stephen Tanger, Goshen. Charles Penn, Syracuse, is a tenant of the building.

Scott said the fire isn't connected to a fire at Higgins Sport and Lawn, 912 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, Aug. 18.

The cause of the fire at Higgins is undetermined and being investigated by the Department of Homeland Security Fire Marshal's office.

The estimated damage to Higgins Sport and Lawn is $180,000.

Crews were dispatched to the fire at 3:32 a.m. and didn't have the fire under control until 8:43 a.m.
