Syracuse Days Scheduled For Aug. 6-8

SYRACUSE - A sidewalk chalk art contest, battle of the bands and barbecue fundraiser are planned for this year's Syracuse Days.

Syracuse Days is Aug. 6-8.[[In-content Ad]]A sidewalk chalk art contest is Aug. 6 for ages 15 and older. Each artist will get a section of the sidewalk on East Main Street across from the Syracuse Library.

Sign up for the contest is at the Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce, 101 E. Main St., or call 574-257-5637. The cost to participate is $5 per artist. First-, second- and third-place prizes will be awarded.

A Battle of the Bands is Aug. 7-8 from 7-9 p.m. Each band pays $10 to enter, and the bands will have a half hour to perform.

The first-place winner will receive a $100 cash prize. People interested in entering into the contest should contact the chamber.

A pet parade will be Aug. 8. Registration will be in the Syracuse Elementary School parking lot from 9 to 10 a.m. The parade begins at 10 a.m. Pet owners are encouraged to decorate their pets, and there is no entry fee.

The Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce barbecue fundraiser will be Aug. 8 from 10 a.m. to sold out at the BC Tile parking lot next to Crossroads Bank. Ribs, chicken, pork chops and potatoes will be sold.

The Lakeland Youth Center three-on-three basketball tournament is Aug. 8. People with questions should call the center at 574-457-3055 for more information.
