SYRACUSE - The fourth annual Syracuse Arts Street Festival will take place on Syracuse's Main Street at the intersection of North Huntington Street (Ind. 13) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

More than 50 arts and crafts vendors, more food booths than last year, kids activity booth and musicians including a Battle of the Bands will bring back the festive atmosphere that has proven to be a hit in past years.

Booths will stretch at least one block on either side of Ind. 13. A variety of art will be for sale from paintings to ceramics, hand-crafted jewelry and more. Some of the vendors from the weekly Syracuse Artisans and Farmers Market will be on hand as well.

There is no admission fee to attend and parking is free at the lots that surround the uptown Syracuse business district.

Come early and stay late as several types of food will be sold by uptown restaurants, the Boy Scouts and Cal-Mar Bakery. Down Under is expanding its roped-off outdoor beer garden into a full bar area. Its prime rib sandwiches will be ready to go inside the restaurant at the bottom of the gazebo.

Back by demand will be ceramic chili containers of all types including bowls, mugs, and chili-rita and chili-tini glasses. Chili comes along with the price of the container.

Several civic organizations and merchants will also have raffles and sales in the uptown festival area. To reserve a vendor booth or for questions, call 574-457-8006.

Regionally known folk singer Adrienne Frailey will entertain earlier in the day, and the Battle of the Bands sponsored by the Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce will follow. Call 574-457-5637 to participate.

An added highlight this year will be a guided historical walking tour of uptown Syracuse. It is also free. Gather in the lower level of the Syracuse Public Library at 2:30 p.m. to take a trip down memory lane with local historian Ron Sharp. The tour will last about an hour. Wear comfortable shoes. For more information on the walking tour, call 574-457-3022.[[In-content Ad]]
