Syngenta and Clunette Elevator Co. Inc. in Leesburg, Indiana have united to generate $5,000 in support of future leaders in agriculture.
The effort resulted from the FFA Blue Jacket Program, an exclusive partnership between Syngenta and retail partners which is currently in its fourth year.
Through this valued alliance, for every $2,500 pledged by its retail customers, Syngenta adds a matching donation.
Funding supports both the national organization and a local FFA chapter, helping students with personal development, leadership and communication skills and the pursuit of career options in agriculture.
A portion of the total donation is used to improve a variety of national programs, including the National Collegiate Agricultural Ambassadors, the American FFA Degree program, Chapter Leadership Continuum conferences, the AgriScience Fair and other FFA programs that assist in promoting agricultural education. Additionally, Clunette Elevator Co. Inc. has chosen the Warsaw FFA Chapter, as the recipient of $500 of the total donation and an official FFA blue corduroy jacket for a chapter member.
“FFA programs are critical in developing student leaders who will excel in the agricultural industry,” said John Anglin Jr. with Clunette “By collaborating with Syngenta, we're able to support this vital organization twofold.  First, we reinforce our commitment to our community by giving back to our local chapter, and second, we support a national program that helps instill the core values we look for in employees and customers. This is an important chance to positively impact the future of agriculture, and that's truly rewarding.”
“We take pride in our ongoing alliance with the FFA Blue Jacket Program,” said Vern Hawkins, president, Syngenta Crop Protection, and 2010 chairman of the National FFA Foundation Sponsors' Board. “Through this highly valued and jointly supported opportunity, we actively invest in ag education and in the career development of our industry's future leaders. In addition, this program enables us to strengthen our commitment to agriculture and our retail customers by matching their financial contributions.”
“The Blue Jacket program continues to create a lot of excitement,” said Rob Cooper, executive director of the National FFA Foundation.  It is so important to provide FFA members the resources they need at the local, state and national level - this program does just that.”
Syngenta has been a proud sponsor of FFA for more than 45 years. Through all sponsored FFA programs in 2010, Syngenta and its retail partners contributed more than $575,000 to support future leaders in agriculture.
