Symphony Of The Lakes To Host Mother's Day Concert

The first is that the Symphony of the Lakes will present a special chamber concert at 3 p.m. at the Wagon Wheel Theatre. The second is the event also will unveil the complete 2014-2015 subscription series for The Symphony of the Lakes. This will be the first time in the orchestra’s history that they will be offering a season subscription to the seven concerts and special events to be held between September 2014 and May 2015.
There will be special incentives for patrons who get their subscriptions early and there will be new ways in which people can become a part of the Symphony’s Encore Society – which is the organization’s foundation to raise financial support for the orchestra. “Whether you are a faithful patron, a new patron or one who has lost their way for a bit, we encourage you to come out and see what we have planned and how community support is key to the success and survival of the Symphony of the Lakes,” according to the release.
The concert will feature four different performing ensembles.
The symphony’s Woodwind Quintet will be performing a collection of entertaining and energetic Hungarian dances composed by the lesser-known Hungarian composer Ferenc Farkas. The concert will also feature three of the newest members of the violin section of the orchestra and its conductor, Thomas Stirling, as they perform “Violin Quartet in G Major” by Georg Phillip Telemann.
The large ensemble of the concert will feature several members of the string sections of the orchestra as they perform J.S. Bach’s well-known “Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G Major.”
Finally, the performance will also include selections performed by the orchestra’s Brass Quintet: “Canzona per sonare No. 2” by Giovanni Gabrieli, “The Pink Panther” by Henry Mancini, selections from “The Sound of Music” by Rodgers and Hammerstein and “Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee” by Beethoven.
The press release states, “This concert is one for the entire family, so start a new tradition and treat the mom’s in your life to a wonderful late afternoon of captivating chamber instrumental entertainment.”
Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for students ages 13 through college, and free for children 12 and under.
