He thanked everyone who had attended and supported the orchestra.
He said, "This has been an exciting season, and we are looking forward to starting our second season in the fall with some wonderful additions to the orchestra and some programming that will appeal to a wide audience."
In the past year, the Symphony presented five concerts, ranging from Haydn's "Creation" and Handel's "Messiah" (a sing-along experience) to a selection of favorites from the Beatles and from "Star Wars." Four concerts were held at Rodeheaver and one at the Performing Arts Center. All were free and open to the public.
The Symphony was supported by donations from individuals, businesses and community organizations, and membership in the Encore Society provided recognition and benefits to patrons who contributed at various levels.
A board of 20 directors, including civic and community leaders, business people and educators from throughout the county, oversees the Symphony.
Kavanaugh said, "The financial support provided by the board and the enthusiasm with which they shouldered the responsibilities of getting the Symphony up and running was absolutely wonderful. I couldn't have asked for a more committed board."
Bob Condon heads the board of directors.
Encore Society members gathered following the concert to celebrate the conclusion of the season at Just Imagine Gallery, Winona Lake. The event was hosted by Lake City Bank, with desserts provided by Cerulean Restaurant.
Symphony of the Lakes, not to be confused with the Masterworks program in July, is an independent symphony orchestra whose mission is to "enhance the cultural climate of our community and to encourage the appreciation an enjoyment of symphonic music through inspiring performances of the highest quality, to an ever-growing audience."
"The board and the entire orchestra join me in urging all people in Kosciusko County and beyond to join us for our second concert season starting this fall," said Kavanaugh. "We have an exciting series of concerts that will appeal to all ages and musical tastes, so if you love good music, please join us."
