He was born Dec. 12, 1920, in Kosciusko County, to Sylvan Glenn Sr. and Hollice Kissinger Stump. He was preceded in death by both wives, Norma L. Jay and Annabelle Henline Habegger.
A longtime Pierceton resident, he was a retired postal carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and was a longtime self-employed farmer. He was of the Presbyterian faith. He was a member of Pierceton Masonic Lodge F&AM 377; Knights of the York Priory Number 8; Past Masters Association; Fort Wayne Valley Scottish Rite; Mizpah Shrine Temple, Fort Wayne; and a 50-year member of Pierceton American Legion 258. He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, serving from 1942-45, in the European, African and Middle East theaters, with the rank of master sergeant.
Surviving are a daughter, Katharine (and spouse George) Alexander, Port Charlotte; a grandson, Marc A. Alexander, San Carlos Park, Fort Myers, Fla.; a granddaughter, Kara N. Alexander, Bloomington; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Linsey Alexander. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard G. Stump.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton, with Pastor Steve Mullin officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton, with military honors by members of Pierceton American Legion 258.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home with Masonic Rites by members of Pierceton Masonic Lodge at 7:30 p.m.
