July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.

A Muncie man who reportedly made threats to a Warsaw police officer and his family is in jail after the SWAT team was called to apprehend him.

Bradley Robert Coleman, 25, was arrested at a residence at 303 Mineral Springs Avenue, Winona Lake, shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday. He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on a warrant for resisting/fleeing law enforcement as well as a second charge of resisting/fleeing law enforcement from Wednesday's incident. His bond was set at $102,000.

According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, Coleman was released from prison in July after serving a two-year sentence for a Kosciusko County armed robbery.

Since his release, Coleman allegedly made comments about Warsaw Police Officer Paul Heaton and his family that concerned law enforcement officials.

Wednesday afternoon, Winona Lake Police Officer Joe Bumbaugh made a traffic stop and learned that Coleman was inside the 303 Mineral Springs Ave. residence.

It was also believed that Coleman was in possession of a .357 magnum handgun

Bumbaugh also told that Coleman was not going to "go back to prison."

After receiving this information, Winona Lake Police Chief Paul Schmitt asked to activate the Kosciusko City-County Special Weapons and Tactics team at the address and secured the perimeter with canine units and officers from the Warsaw and Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.

SWAT team members entered the residence and found Coleman hiding inside a closet.

Additional charges against Coleman are possible from the Warsaw Police Department regarding the comments he had made that were directed toward Heaton's family.[[In-content Ad]]
