One of the men arrested in connection with the murder of a Milford woman posted a $50,000 bond and was released from the Kosciusko County Jail.
The surety bond for Ralph Freddrick Fisher, 46, Goshen, was paid about 8:30 p.m. Friday and he was released. A surety bond is one that is insured by a bondsman. Fisher or someone acting on his behalf must pay 10 percent of the cost of the bond to a bondsman who, in turn, guarantees Fisher's appearance in court. The bonding agent also provides the balance of the bond amount.
Jason M. Fisher, 22, of Millersburg, remains in the Kosciusko County Jail on a charge of murder. His bond is set at $1 million, but Kosciusko County Prosecutor Chuck Waggoner has requested the court to revoke that and allow him to be held without bond.
The elder Fisher was charged with assisting a criminal after allegedly helping his son dispose of the body of Kathy Vroman, 48.
Documents filed in Kosciusko Circuit Court indicate the young Fisher, who was Vroman's boss, shot her with a semiautomatic pistol on Jan. 15 at the Country Car Co. Her body was recovered from a location near Three Rivers, Mich., where police were told it could be found.
According to court documents, Ralph Fisher said his son told him he shot Vroman at the car lot and he then told his son how to dispose of the body and remove bloodstains from the scene.
Police began searching for Vroman Jan. 15, when her husband reported her missing. William Vroman told police he last saw his wife after dropping her off at work that morning. Milford police reportedly found blood at the car lot after the investigation into her disappearance started.
William Vroman, 32, and George W. Aldrich, 28, of Etna Green, also were arrested in connection with this case. Vroman is charged with burglary and Aldrich is charged with burglary and auto theft. Both of the men allegedly took part in a Dec. 2 burglary at Rice Ford in Warsaw, where more than $100,000 worth of vehicles were stolen along with about 20 sets of keys to other new vehicles.
Another man being detained in Florida in connection with the auto thefts came forward with information in the case on Wednesday night, confirming that Kathy Vroman was dead.
Lawrence Grant, 29, of Goshen, surrendered to authorities in Wildwood, Fla., after making contact with Milford police. He is preliminarily charged with auto theft, unlawful movement of a body and assisting a criminal. He is awaiting extradition to Indiana.
Grant went to Wildwood police Thursday and told them that a dispute over stolen vehicles could have contributed to Kathy Vroman's death, a probable cause affidavit said.
He apparently helped Jason Fisher dispose of Vroman's body while allegedly using the van she was last seen driving the day she vanished. The van was found in Angola.
The Vromans moved to Milford from the Elkhart/Goshen area shortly before her disappearance and previously lived in New York, where they were under investigation in an embezzlement case. Local authorities declined to comment on whether that investigation has any bearing on the local one. [[In-content Ad]]
