Susie McEntire Returns to Warsaw for Christmas Concert

July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.

Back by popular demand, “A Country Christmas with Susie McEntire” returns to Warsaw Dec. 12.
The free 90-minute concert is at 7 p.m. in the Lakeview Middle School auditorium. No ticket is needed, but attendees are asked to bring a new unwrapped toy to benefit Toys For Tots.
“It’s free to the community, we’re just asking you bring a new, unwrapped toy for Toys For Tots. If you don’t have a toy, we’ll still let you in. We want this event available for everybody,” said organizer Mike Loher. “A lot of your Christmas shows – you have to buy a ticket. So we wanted to try to do this so everyone was welcome and so that everyone could afford to come. It’s a very clean, family-oriented show.”
He stated the event in 2014 collected 12 large Toys For Tots boxes of gifts for local children. Seating was “pretty full,” he indicated.
“We had a lot of people ask if we could do this again,” he said. “We had requests from not only individuals that attended but our sponsors as well.”
He said McEntire was “excited to come back to Warsaw. She was very willing and excited to come back.”
The Christmas show will be McEntire’s third performance in Warsaw, having performed at the event last year and the “Salute to the Heroes” event at the Kosciusko County Fair in 2013.
Susie McEntire is the sister of legendary country artist Reba McEntire.
“Susie also shares her big sister’s musical giftings. But Susie has directed her talents to the country gospel side of American Roots music garnering much acclaim from her peers and fans alike. In addition to numerous awards and nominations from TNN, GMA and CCMA, Susie has been named ‘Artist of the Year’ several times in the field of Positive Country Music. She has also scored four No. 1 singles on the Positive Country radio charts,” according to her biography on her official website, susiemcentire.com
The concert Dec. 12 will be similar to the one last year, Loher said, with a few little differences. One of those changes is that the concert this year is a Saturday instead of a Friday.
The Warsaw Christian School Kids Choir will appear on stage with McEntire this year as they did in 2014, Loher said.
Financial sponsors to date are Leesburg United Methodist Church, Times-Union, Louis Dreyfus, Everest Excavating and Stookey Construction.
If any person or business is interested in supporting the event financially, contact Mike Loher at 574-376-0193. All monetary contributions are tax deductible as Leesburg UMC is the fiscal sponsor of the event.
“If you like Reba, you will really enjoy this show,” Loher said.[[In-content Ad]]
