My name is Jerry Frush and I am the city councilman for District 4. All of my life I have lived in the Warsaw-Wayne Township School District. I attended West Wayne (now Washington), Junior High School (where the Zimmer headquarters is located) and the Senior High School (where Retired Tigers is located).
All of these have been replaced with newer and larger buildings and we as taxpayers have been asked to pay for them. My wife and I have two children who both attended all the new schools and received a very good education.
The first few years we did send them to a private school because we wanted to and we paid the tuition ourselves plus the school taxes for the public schools not asking for the state to pay. Not like today, but that is another story. As time has moved on and there are more children, we need larger and better schools and it is our duty to furnish them as our forefathers furnished the schools for us.
I don’t like higher taxes any better than anyone else, but I believe we should support the referendum and give our young children places to receive a quality education. Our children are our future so I will ask my neighbors in District 4 to be sure to vote May 5 for all the city contests and to support the referendum and give our young children places to receive a quality education. Our children are our future, so I will ask my neighbors in District 4 to be sure to vote May 5 for all the city contests and to support the school referendum with a “yes” vote. Thank you.
