Supports Mourdock

Editor, Times-Union:
I am writing in support of Richard Mourdock for the U.S. Senate. Richard Mourdock is a fiscal conservative who will work to protect both our seniors and our children.

Some have accused Richard of wanting to cut Medicare and/or Social Security for our seniors. Actually Richard Mourdock believes we must honor our promise to seniors by not reducing the benefits to our seniors and those about to retire. The programs are not sustainable as they are, so changes will have to be made for the future, in order to follow the Indiana way of protecting our children from broken promises or an unsustainable tax burden.

Richard Mourdock’s opponent is trying to come across as a conservative on these financial issues. Please see Teresa Martin’s Sept. 27, 2012, letter to the editor to see his actual voting record of supporting the Washington way as opposed to Mourdock’s Indiana way. If you want more info on Donnelly’s voting record, download the book at freedomworksamerica.org/candidate/joe-donnelly

As a final note, if Mitt Romney wins the White House, but Harry Reid is still running the Senate, the Indiana common sense way will never get to Romney’s desk.

Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) are for people over the age of 70.5 years old. Unlike other distributions, which are taxed at ordinary income tax rates, Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) allow for a tax-free distribution from an IRA, provided that the distribution goes directly to a qualified charity.
