Supports Adams

This is a letter in support of Kent Adams for Winona Lake clerk-treasurer. I have known Kent for many years now and even worked for him as his State Senate intern 15 years ago (can hardly believe it was that long ago – seems like just yesterday!).   I have never seen a more dedicated servant to his constituents and the State of Indiana.
I watched then Senator Kent Adams crunch numbers on state tax rolls that were for billions of dollars – and he read every detail. He knew those bills and did not just skim over them so he could say he had read them like many elected officials do.
Kent Adams is a man of his word and therefore a man of high integrity. While other members of the Senate were out in the hallways talking with lobbyists or even missing votes on the floor of the Senate, Kent would be in the Senate Chamber or at his desk working, reading through a bill, or voting. He was doing the job he was elected to do.
I remember one time a woman from his district having just relocated to the area from Canada. She had gone through all the proper means to move to the States as far as immigration. She was a nurse with many years of on the job experience and was trying to get her license transferred to work in the States. She was running into a lot of government red tape (if you can imagine) in order to be able to begin working as a nurse here. This was not a lobbyist or an entire group of people, but one, just one person who was asking for help from the elected official of the district where she had just relocated to. Then Senator Adams sponsored a bill to help this lady get her nurse license transferred so she could begin work in the States. The bill passed.  There was no political gain in this for then Senator Adams. He was just out to help an individual who had sought out his assistance.
There is no political gain in this current campaign for Kent Adams, but rather he is just stepping up to the plate once again to serve the people he cares about.
On another note, I heard someone telling Kent this evening at the Winona Lake Candidate Forum that he is not a man of integrity by posting the truth of what Retha Hicks’ salary is.  Kent did not comment back or act in defense. He simply took this and looked at this gentleman and told him that he is entitled to his opinion. This is the kind of man that Kent is. He does not strike back. He just kindly listens. For this reason, I encourage Winona Lake voters to cast their vote in support of Kent Adams for clerk-treasurer.
