He was born July 2, 1938, in David, Ky., to Valice and Bertha Slone Bradford. On Oct. 4, 1958, he married his "forever love" Roberta "Bert" Shepherd, who survives. He was a devoted and loving husband for 49 years.
The family moved to Indiana in 1953, and owned and operated a dairy farm in North Manchester. He graduated from Laketon High School in 1957. He was successful in the agricultural business, becoming president and owner of Hoosier Harvestore based in Greensburg. He and his wife operated the business until their retirement in 2000.
As a wonderful and proud father, grandfather and great-grandchildren, he leaves a son, Stephen (and wife Hilary) Bradford, Dove Canyon, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Mark (Kay) Poling, Warsaw; grandchildren: Mrs. Zach (Amie) Nelson and Mark B. Poling, both of Warsaw; Amanda Poling, West Lafayette; and Elizabeth, Mimi and Jonathan Bradford, Dove Canyon; and a great-grandchild, Reed Nelson, Warsaw. The second of 13 children, he is survived by siblings: Ray (and wife Johanne) Bradford, California; Mrs. Larry (Osie) Lawmaster, Pierceton; Mrs. Ron (Pauline) Booe, North Carolina; Mrs. Jim (Eva) Garman and Richmond (and wife Eileen) Bradford, both of North Manchester; Lon (and wife Patricia) Bradford, Donald (and wife Diane) Bradford, Carl Bradford and Mrs. Mike (Patricia) Wheatley, all of Virginia; and Mrs. Phil (Debra) Dotson, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Virgil "Bill" and Valice Bradford Jr.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Terry Bradford officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
