Sacred Heart students, staff and parishioners had a special Mass Sept. 24. The Statue of the Immaculate Heart of Our Lady of Fatima was brought to Sacred Heart, one of the stops on the Diocesan Tour. The statue was blessed by Pope Francis. Our Lady came to Fatima, Portugal, in 1917 to give us a plan for peace. Students, staff and parishioners came to honor Our Lady and to hear the Message of Fatima, which St. John Paul II said is more important today than ever. Blessed by Pope Francis Oct. 23, and entrusted to the World Apostolate of Fatima, the statue serves as an official presence of Our Lady of Fatima in America. Pictured (L to R) by the statue were, back: Carol Bunt, board member for the Fort Wayne-South Bend Diocesan-Division of the World Apostolate of Fatima; Bill Sockey, custodian of the Statue; Father Phil DeVolder, pastor; and James Faroh, principal; front row: fourth-graders who were enthused about the visiting statue.[[In-content Ad]]
