An Indiana State Police car was totaled after it collided with another car at 11:37 a.m. Monday.
According to Indiana State Trooper Brooks Johnson, ISP Sgt. Lou Brown, 44, Parker Street, Warsaw, was southbound on Fort Wayne Street approaching Lindberg Street. Joy Fair, 79, North CR 175E, Warsaw, was southbound on Lindberg Street and failed to stop at the Fort Wayne-Lindberg streets intersection.
Fair told police she did not realize there was a stop sign until she was already part way through the intersection, at which point the two vehicles collided.
After the impact, Brown's car continued through the intersection and hit a NIPSCO utility pole head-on. Fair's car spun counterclockwise and came to a rest in the grass on the southeast corner of the intersection in the Sacred Heart Church yard.
Both Fair and Brown were wearing their seatbelts. Fair complained of pain to the hand and Brown complained of back and neck pain, according to Johnson. Both were transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital where they were treated and released.
Damage to Fair's car is estimated at $5,000 to $10,000. The NIPSCO pole had less than $750 in damages.
