Starts At Home

Following the need for religious influence in all of society to bring morality and stability to society, the family is the most important unit to help this to happen. What benefit would come if every home was Christian. But sadly, we know this is not so.
As a grandparent who cared about his children's upbringing and now has the same concern about my grandchildren and great grandchildren's training, I have carefully held each one and helped to teach him or her "Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong, they are weak, but He is strong. Yes, Jesus loves me. (Repeat twice). The Bible tells me so." This song sticks in the mind forever once it is learned.
The family and home must exert this positive influence. To ignore it brings a lack of discipline in child's life, and a failure to acknowledge authority which is essential in family and society.
There is always an exceptional child, but the average tells us that a child is largely what the home has made him or her. The best way to provide the right home for a child is to put before him or her parental training and example in mother's and father's lives. The old story of the little boy trying to step in his father's footprints in the snow still applies, for good or for bad, according to the father's walk. No other agency, including the church and Sunday School, can substitute for mother's and father's lifestyle and training.
Long ago, Joshua in the Bible said, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Joshua 24:15.
It's a little late in the first month of the new year, but that's a great family goal.
