NAPPANEE - Stanley "Stan" Huffer, 67, of 308 Broad Ave., Nappanee, died unexpectedly of natural causes at 6 p.m. May 7, 2007, in his residence.
He was born Aug. 6, 1939, in Etna Green, to Charles Wright and Bessie Marie Gall Huffer. On Feb. 12, 1976, in Las Vegas, he married Barbara A. Sharp, who survives.
A lifetime area resident, he was a 1957 Bremen High School graduate and worked at Supersweet Feeds, Nappanee, for 37 years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of AARP, a board member of the Elkhart County 4-H Fair, chairman of the Nappanee Apple Festival in 1997, and was on the Nappanee Retail Committee. He was a volunteer for the Apple Festival for many years, the Wakarusa Maple Syrup Festival and the Nappanee Center.
Also surviving are a daughter, Penny Huffer, Nappanee; a son, Patrick Huffer, Goshen; two step-grandchildren, Daniel and Russell Rhamey, both of Goshen; his former wife, Marge Huff; a sister, Marjorie Eleanor Miller, Nappanee; and a brother, Wallace "Wally" Huffer, Woodland, Calif. He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
A graveside service will be Saturday at Hepton Union Cemetery. The procession will meet at 4 p.m. at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. There will be cremation.
