FORT WAYNE – Stanley J. Kessler, 72, Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully Feb. 7, 2014, at his residence.
He was born in Portland to Glen and Mildred Kessler . He married Janet Bunnell Grow, who survives.
He was a Purdue graduate who went to work as a tool grinder with Dana for 20 years, retiring in 2003. He was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church, a long-time volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and he also served his country in the National Guard.
He was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his family and volunteering. He was a skilled carpenter and sports car enthusiast who enjoyed fishing and watching Purdue Basketball, the Cubs and the Colts.
Also surviving are a son, Matthew (and spouse Sheila) Kessler, Eugene, Ore.; two daughters, Amy (and spouse Matt) Lutz, Indianapolis, and Emily (and spouse Michael) Diettrich, Toledo, Ohio; seven grandchildren: Cate and Colby Lutz; Maddie and Finn Kessler; and Mallory, Drew, Owen and Henry Diettrich; and two sisters, Becky Ertel, Rochester, and Mary Jane Bendt, Knox. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at a later date.
D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home, Fort Wayne, is in charge of arrangements.
