By Staff Report-

Spectrum Day Spa, Warsaw, recently celebrated its 20th anniversary by giving back to the community.
On July 27, each customer was invited to purchase tickets for a drawing to win spa services provided by the Spectrum staff. The proceeds from these sales were then donated to Beaman Home’s campaign to build a new emergency shelter and outreach center.
“Often times in our profession we are the first to know about domestic abuse, be it through physical evidence such as bruises or cuts or through our client confiding in us. In our years in business I am sad to say we have ran into it more than once,” explained Darleen Hunter, owner of Spectrum Day Spa.
“When I heard they are trying to raise money to build a new facility, I wanted to do something to help. I reached out to my staff and our clients, and they responded so generously! We were thrilled to have raised more than $300 with our one-day event. We are even more excited to learn our gift arrived in time to be matched by the Kosciusko County Community Foundation’s challenge grant, bringing our total gift to the campaign to more than $600!”
Beaman Home has been providing essential services to domestic violence victims and their children since 1985.  The campaign for a new emergency shelter and outreach center is seeking $1.8 million to renovate and add a two-story addition to property purchased by the Beaman Home Board last August.
Located on Parker Street in Warsaw, the new facility will replace the current three bedroom, 13-bed emergency shelter with a 10-bedroom, 40-bed shelter with adjacent outreach center. It will also have multiple living rooms, appropriate meeting and training facilities, a teaching kitchen, adequate staff space and a children’s activity area.
Those interested in making a gift, or organizing a fundraising event/activity, to help Beaman Home build a new emergency shelter and outreach center should contact Beaman Home Executive Director Tracie Hodson by calling 574-372-3503 or by emailing [email protected][[In-content Ad]]

Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) are for people over the age of 70.5 years old. Unlike other distributions, which are taxed at ordinary income tax rates, Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) allow for a tax-free distribution from an IRA, provided that the distribution goes directly to a qualified charity.
