Speakman, Lawrance Top Graduates At Wawasee High School

Richard Speakman has been named valedictorian of the Wawasee High School class of 1997, while salutatorian honors have been awarded to Kenneth Lawrance.

Speakman is the son of Dave and Carmi Speakman, Syracuse. He plans to major in chemistry-biology and pre-med at Asbury College.

He has served as student body president at Wawasee High School and was a member of the state champion cheer squad. He is active in his church and its youth group.

Lawrance is the son of Chuck and Peg Lawrance, North Webster. He plans to study physics/chemical engineering at Butler University or Washington University.

He is a Hoosier Scholar and a member of National Honor Society and the Academic Hall of Fame. He served on Wawasee's state champion cheer squad and is a member of the marching, jazz and pep bands and Big Mouth.

Wawasee has also announced the students who will graduate with academic honors.

Students graduating with highest distinction are Carly Beer, Kari Beer, Neal Beer, Laura Gunden, Mark Haab, John Hursh, Sharada Nethaway, Kristine Shivers and Jenny Szynal.

Those graduating with distinction are Holly Hudson, Heather Lamb, Rebecca Roose and Abby Weiss.

Wawasee's commencement exercises will be at 2 p.m. June 1 in the main gym. [[In-content Ad]]
