Southwood Drops Squires

NORTH MANCHESTER - Southwood moved a step closer to winning the Three Rivers Conference with a 42-6 win Friday night.
Southwood is 6-0 overall, 5-0 in the TRC. If the Knights win the TRC, it would be their second year in a row to do so.
The Knights punished Manchester with 444 total yards, including 302 rushing. They gained a 21-0 lead after the first quarter, as Jeremiah Strickler and Aaron Garner scored on 7- and 6-yard runs respectively. An 11-yard pass from Garner to Brian Knight closed out the scoring in the first quarter and put Southwood up by 21 early.
Manchester's only score came late in the game, when Brandon Reimer connected with David Barrett on a 12-yard pass.
After fumbling eight times last week, Manchester fumbled four times against Southwood, losing three. The only negative statistic to Southwood's game was the penalty yardage, as the Knights were hit for 11 penalties for 102 yards.
Manchester finished with 220 total yards. Barrett led the Squires with 85 rushing yards on 20 carries. Andrew Hanlon had 119 rushing yards on 16 carries for Southwood.
