Single Tickets For Wabash Valley Music Association Series On Sale Tuesday

WABASH - The Wabash Valley Music Association begins its 2008-09 season on Sept. 7 with a return to its traditional opening concert by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.[[In-content Ad]]Season tickets for the seven-show schedule are on sale now at the Honeywell Center box office, and single show tickets will be available starting Tuesday.

This season, WVMA offers three prices for season tickets, beginning at $150 for series seats in the front 16 rows on the main floor, front balcony rows and the balcony sidearms. Season tickets in the remaining rows of the main floor are at $135, and the last rows in the balcony are priced at $75.

Alessio Bax, a rising young pianist, will solo with the ISO at its Wabash concert. Immediately after the 6 p.m. concert, WVMA will present a gala dinner in Eugenia's Restaurant. All ticket holders will receive an invitation to the event, which carries an additional charge.

Two Broadway shows are on the new season series. "Chicago" arrives Oct. 10, and "Hairspray" arrives Jan. 8. Both shows had extended runs on Broadway.

The Wabash Area Community Theatere's presentation of the musical "A Christmas Carol" on Nov. 14 is included in the WVMA season. A cast of talented local performers recreate the famous story by Charles Dickens in time for the holidays.

The St. Petersburg State Ballet on Ice makes it first Wabash appearance with "Sleeping Beauty" on Nov. 23. Technicians will create a surface of ice on the Ford Theatre stage for this performance set to the music of Peter Tchaikovsky.

"Simply Ballroom," a program of popular dance performed by eight couples, comes to the Ford Theatre March 13. The program, created first in England and inspired by the resurgence in ballroom dancing, is on its second U.S. tour.

The season closes with Tommy Tune and the Manhattan Rhythm Kings on March 27 performing "Steps in Time - A Broadway Biography in Song and Dance."

Single tickets are priced from $15- $45, depending on the show and seat location. Students through high school are admitted for half-price. All shows, except for the opening concert in September, are at 7:30 p.m.

Eugenia's Restaurant in the Honeywell Center will offer buffet dining prior to each show at 5:30 p.m. - with the exception of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, when a gala dinner will be offered.
