Single Suspect Attempts Robbery Of Leesburg Convenience Store

LEESBURG – A suspect in an attempted robbery of a Leesburg convenience store may be a teenager.
According to a press release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, detectives are currently investigating an attempted robbery Friday evening of the Freedom Express gas station and convenience store in Leesburg.
KCSD deputies responded Friday at 9:20 p.m. to the store at 201 S. Main St., Leesburg, regarding an attempted robbery. Officers were advised that a male, possibly a teenager, had entered the business and attempted to rob the cashier.  The suspect was denied, and fled the business.
The suspect was last seen running eastbound on Prairie Street in Leesburg.  A K-9 unit from the Winona Lake Police Department arrived and conducted a search of the immediate area, but was unable to locate the suspect.
A weapon was not displayed according to officers on the scene, the press release states.
The suspect was described as wearing a black, or dark blue colored hoody/hooded jacket, a black ski mask and blue latex gloves.
Surveillance footage obtained from the business was secured, and a still photo of the suspect was provided to media.
