Shirley J. Adams, 67, of 115 W. Center St., Burket, died at 5 p.m. July 16, 2008 at her residence.

She was born May 5, 1941, in Wharncliffe, W.Va. to Everett and Myrtle Browning Gillman. On April 30, 1971, in Pierceton, she married Merl E. Adams, who survives.

She was a homemaker and collected ceramics, her favorite being roosters. She loved flowers and had one she tended for more than 24 years.

Also surviving are a daughter, Mary "Jo" (and spouse Larry) Shepherd, Columbia City; two sons, Everett Ray Justice, Mentone, and Charlie Justice, West Virginia; three sisters, Renda Sue Adkins, Warsaw, Joyce (and spouse Jay) Newsome, Columbus, Ohio, and Donna (and spouse Billy Ray) Wadkins, Silver Lake; three brothers, Lanny (and spouse Linda) Gillman, Akron; Billy Lee (and spouse Donna) Gillman, Mentone, and Everett Jr. (and spouse Marilyn) Gillman, Etna Green; three grandsons, Cole (and spouse Heather) Shepherd, David Justice and Ricky (and spouse Joy) Justice; two step-grandsons, Troy and Travis Shepherd; and one great grandson, Ricky Justice Jr.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester Street, Akron with Pastor Henry Arnett Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Mentone Cemetery.

Callings is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

King Memorial Home, Mentone, is in charge of arrangements.
