Shirley A. Newman, 77, of Colfax Apartments, Warsaw, formerly of Palestine, died at 8 a.m. Aug. 1, 2013, in Select Specialty Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She was born April 3, 1936, in Warsaw, to Melvin and Cathrine Bowser Miller. On July 24, 1956, in Warsaw, she married Robert D. Newman, who preceded her in death March 26, 2006.
A graduate of Warsaw High School, she worked at Planting Works, Warsaw, and enjoyed crafting, especially knitting and crocheting.
Surviving are a daughter, Cathy (and spouse Jim) McClone, Mentone; three sons, Rob (and spouse Patti) Newman and Don (and spouse Tammy) Newman, all of Akron, and Dusty (and spouse Carol) Newman, Mentone; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two step sisters, Sharon Evans and Becky (and spouse William) Bailey, all of Warsaw. She was preceded in death by a sister, Gloria McPeak; two brothers, Larry and Bobby Miller; and a step sister, Judy McKinney.
By request no service will take place. Burial will be at a later date at Palestine Cemetery.
Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone.
