He was born Aug. 18, 1923, in Memphis, Tenn., to Sherwood Sr. and Anne Roach. In 1948, he married his loving wife Mary Jo, who survives.
He loved his country and served during World War II. He had a special heart for people, serving as a Presbyterian pastor until his retirement in 1974. He enjoyed the outdoors, raising animals, many sports and a lively discussion of God's word. He was a member of Zion Chapel, Goshen, and had a passion for all of God's people. He will be remembered as a kind and loving husband, father adn friend, always giving of himself and asking nothing in return. He passed his love of God and life to many people along his 86 years of life's journey and will be deeply missed by them and his family.
Also surviving are five children: Lori, Calvin, Andrew and Colleen; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Tim, and a brother James, who was a Baptist pastor.
Services will be at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Zion Chapel, Goshen.
Calling is from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the church.
