NORTH MANCHESTER - Sherman L. Mettlen, 93, of Silver Lake, died at 7:23 p.m. March 21, 2007, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

He was born Oct. 29, 1913, in Tipton, to Samuel G. and Bessie L. Rice Mettlen. On June 8, 1934, he married Evelyn M. Vincent, who died April 20, 2001.

A delivery man for Graf Dairy and Peter Dairy, both in Michigan City, he retired in 1970. He graduated from Tipton High School in 1932.

Surviving are a daughter, Marcia Jones, Silver Lake; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother, a sister and a grandchild.

A private burial will take place in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.

No calling is planned.
